I would take a GTO over a 300ZX to be honest.

4WD turbo is just my preference over RWD turbo when it comes to whales.

GTO - 1,400–1,710 KG
300ZX - 1496 kg - 1610 KG

I'd stay well away from one unless you have very deep pockets or its had most of the engine bay replaced. When things go wrong on them, they're quite hard to repair due to how ridiculously crammed the engine bay is.

What prompted the want of a 300ZX? Drive in a mates?

I never liked GTO's myself untill a friend bought a MR version and the pull in 3rd gear, wow.

Just always like the look of them, and would make a pretty sweet long distance cruiser, oodles of power and nice and lazy to drive with all that torque as well.

GTO's are nicer looking I think... But both are to big for what they are.

I've seen both get up and go, but $&#$% working on it....

GTOs are good for their engines.. when put into something else :P

east/west transverse setup with not so strong gearbox and transfer case is sure to fail.

Go for a older Z, much nicer and easier to work on. The 260z with a turbo will go like nothing else if tuned right. They have prestige too!

If you haven't driven a JZA80, i suggest to take one for a drive, even a non turbo auto will rock your world for its Gran Turismoness and Supercar-like ride

I've driven a manual NA MKIV and a manual TT MKIV. Although admittedly not hard in either and not for long distances... I didn't think it was that "fantastic"... My JZX91 seems to handle awesomely compared to MKIII supras... just needs power, manual and lsd :)

Out of curiosity though... have you compared a JZX100 to a MKIV supra? Either turbo auto or turbo manual (like for like)? I sometimes wonder which would be the better car... the JZX seems like a more sporting chassis and is used more for track events (drifting and grip)... and is also stupidly cheaper than the supra...

Cant say I've ever driven a Mk3 supra nor a JZX100 anything However I'm pretty confident that all the suspension arms etc in the JZX100's are Steel just like the JZX90 items. the JZA80 runs lots of Alloy suspension arms, and front subframe, they are also a shorter wheel base (but have lots of overhang giving the impression of a bigger car)

The main reason supra's hold their price is because they are A SUPRA. in saying that, you'd be hard pressed to find a more capable starting platform than a $6000 auto non turbo supra

yip all jzx90/100 suspension parts are interchangible and are all steal

yet to find a alley part ( bar coil overs ) under the 100 chassis

tourer s and tourer v jzx100 still hold there prices rather well even more so manaul ones

and curb weight from memory the jza80 is 80kg heavier than a jzx100
jzx90s on the other hand are lighter again than a jzx100

blah blah blah

get a an aristo

I have to agree there!! The 240's and the 260's are carbied but have a nicer body shape where the 280zx isn't as nice in the body shape but comes with an injected 2.8 and 4 wheel disc brakes etc.

Good luck finding a turbo one though :?
