Quick question regarding gearboxes/bellhousings.
Have a friend with a 1G-FE 6spd manual IS200, considering swapping in a 2JZ-GE, I'm not familiar with these blocks, how much grief is there to be had as far as making the original gearbox work?

Despite what some of the above people are trying to tell you, you cannot get a bell housing to fit the 6 speed. it is NOT a W5# gearbox it is a J160 which has the bell housing as part of the main casing. this gearbox never came out behind a #JZ anything. You could either a) convert to 5 speed using a remote shift W5# type gearbox, b) cut and shunt the bell housing on the J160 gearbox and put a JZ engine pattern mounting face on it, and HOPE it handles the torque of the 2JZ.

The J160 6MT does have a removable bellhousing but you will need a custom one made up to suit the 2JZ (refer pic below)

I had researched this conversion deeply in the past before deciding to go 3SGE turbo instead, will try to answer any questions you got.
