clutch plates

Just took the new trd close ratio gearbox off that
had shifting problems on its first outing to find the
clutch puks have fallen apart again on both sides,any ideas or
better clutch plates.

They still really need to be bedded in for maximum efficiency, but I dont know how easy that would be in a race car! I guess try another brand, see how that goes

where did that come from and what brand?

they normally chip off around the edges but are still fine.

Im trying a "extreme" 6puk disc after I found my exedy hub cracked, extreme covers have shocking balancing though.

precision brake and clutch in takanini, auckland can send your old clutch off to somewhere who will replace the pads. can't remember where they send it or how much it costs, but they do a good job.

replaced my brothers pads on his 6 puck clutch in his 1uz supra when they wore prematurely because off the wrong adaptor with his bellhousing. took alot of abuse.

can only agree with strx7, we deal with these guys alot through work and they are fantastic.

he built me a brilliant clutch for my trueno, they do all kinds of custom stuff with carbon-kevlar linings and can get or make pretty much anything you want.

most of the parts guys i know get their personal clutches from them rather than the exedy catalogue etc

Cheers for that guys,my mate works at sterling brake and clutch,I will see what they come up with first to fix the problem because i don't want the same clutch if it keeps on falling apart and will try these other guys.

The new gearbox is sweet when it worked,will do 210km at 8500 and the ratios are so close,could'nt select 3rd and 4th 5 times out of 10.Just hope that when i took the pressure plate off and the pieces of broken puk that was wedged in fell out were jaming the clutch and stopping it disengaging properly,hope this is why the gearbox had problems.
