Sealed autocross series, it's happening!

Postby Leon » Thu Jun 04, 2009 11:31 am

Keen?

Sealed autocross series to run at Slipway, starting next month, four events before the end of the year.

Required:

Helmet
Overalls (100% cotton or race, not polycotton)
Road legal tyres (no slicks, no balds)
$30 per event
Join MSNZ car club by the time you've entered your second MSNZ event (any club). Don't need to join a club to give it a crack for the first time.

Minimum competitor age 12 years old. Any under 18's need parental consent forms to be completed PRIOR to the event.

So, cheapish, relatively easy to get to.

I can put on a scrutineering evening for you, if you want us to go through your cars for issues prior to the series starting, can provide a team of guys to look at cars. This might help make it less scary for you, than just arriving at the event unsure if your car complies, and I know that the rules do scare people. eg: Lots of cars with batteries relocated into the cabin don't meet MSNZ rules, ditto aftermarket seats mounted in cars.

Note: it's a competition, so you won't have insurance. If you can't risk crashing a car, this probably isn't for you, we don't want anybody to totally stuff up their lives because they clip a tyre wall in their work car!

 What about clipping your work car BEFORE going to the event in it?

I am always happy to assist people with Scrutineering questions / checks etc. if they are keen to enter an event but are unsure of if their vehicle will comply.

Not on call and have the weekend free at this stage. So shouldn't be an issue to assist (unless my workmate goes sick).

Autocross Challenge

Harbour Capital Car Club is pleased to announce a new Sealed Autocross series, to run at the Slipway venue in Brooklyn. This is a great way for beginners to join the Wellington Motorsport community, and for the old hands to hone their skills.

There are four rounds scheduled
July 12th
August 30th
October 4th
November 15th

Points are decided by your fastest timed run on the day. No complicated classes, first past the post takes home 25 points, and the points decrease by one point per position.

You can drop your worst round (in case you have to get to a wedding or funeral on the same day as one of our rounds!), so the best three results from the four rounds decide our overall winner.

$30 per round, and you can enter as few or as many rounds as you choose.

First prize for the series is $100 in BP vouchers; additionally www.photoworks.co.nz will chose a worthy contender for Most Improved, and a “Thanks Mate” award winner from our helpers.

Any MotorSport compliant vehicle can enter, so if you’ve got anything from a Daihatsu Charade, Toyota Supra, Porsche 911, or a Fiat Uno, we will be happy to see you there.

Slipway can be set up for drifting or for gymkhana. In it's simplest form its a big concrette pad surrounded by tyres than a nice bank. It was used for the trackday at the last mega meet and everyone seemed to have fun
