Who cares, if you dont like the V8 series in its current incarnation, dont watch it. I cant say I'm a big fan, meh.

Obviously there's a lot of aussie history and pride in the ford/holden battles , let them enjoy playing with their toys I reckon :D

It's not as if either of the cars bares any resemblance to the street cars apart from the body shell shape, what difference does it make if a few of the cars have a toyota badge on the front? Apart from potentially making less people interested in what is currently mostly aussies and kiwis, watching aussie cars race around.

ford and holden do not set the rules for V8s, never have.

Lol, really. So when Toyota asked to play and got told to go away by Ford/Holden because they had not put any money into the development of V8 supercars series, that wasn't making rules up.

that never happened
please show me where ford and holden told toyota to go away and actually had any official power to do so.
as it happens it looks like other makes will be allowed from 2011, they are looking at new rules now.

now, to get the facts straight. after the death of group A, note death not aussie banning other cars, CAMS needed to devise a new formula for touring car racing in aussie. there was nothing suitable running anywhere else in the world.
the rules they came up with were for production based cars built in aussie. the V8 RWD platform was decided on as thats what the fans wanted. as demonstrated by the years they ran 2 bathurst 1000s. the V8s drew massive crowds, the 2ltrs barely anyone.
developing a forum for the local companies was a factor, and why not? nothing wrong with looking after your own interests.

too many ppl look back at group A with rose tinted glasses, fact is often they struggled to get grids of ten cars at some ATCC rounds. and of those numerous cars at bathurst, 99% were making up the numbers while 5 or so actually had a chance at winning, now days, nearly half the field has a chance. group a was just too exspensive, to get any idea go read the article on the VN group A SS in the lastest aussie muscle car mag.

now, if you want to further discuss group A, then how about a different topic as this thread is for F1 8)

Corrected for truth :P
What a lot of drama. I don't see how you guys think FOTA will get up and running and be popular with everybody in such a small space of time.

By utilising existing promotions networks like Dorma ;)

Regardless of that I still think it's just part of the negotiation process, Max likes playing hardbal, bluff, threat and bully is really the only language he understands
As the BBC mentioned last night, 20 odd million watching F1, 20,000 watching A1GP.

So next year it'll be 20mil watching Formula Unlimited Max, or FU-Max for short, and 20,000 watching Fauxmula 1
F1 is about race teams, always has been. Ferrari started out making racecars.

Exactly, and if the teams leave F1 it will no longer be F1. Fans follow teams, the don't follow rule makers, so if the teams go elsewhere (especially Ferrari) the fans will follow.

There have been so many varations... Hitler broke his gearbox launching too many times in his new GT-R.... Hitler has his WoW account deleted... Hitler's ISP cuts him off.... etc etc
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

All pretty academic now that they've kissed and made up. At least Mad Max will be gone in October, pity that they didn't manage to get rid of Bernie though.
