Cost for Top half of car paintjob?

Postby dakine » Sat Jul 04, 2009 3:11 pm

any one have an idea of how much it would cost to get a couple coats of paint and decent amount of clear coat done for a top half of a caldina? from the crease in the door up, including bonnet and roof??

any spraypainters out there??

would like to know how much just to spray and bake, would prefer to do sanding/general prep work and getting the paint colour myself but would like it sprayed in an oven...

any info would be greatly appreciated... I wanna know if its worth paying to get it done professionally or just diy it lol.

Heres what you do.

Go to local panel and paint shops.
Ask for a price to do what you want done.
If the prices are more than you want to pay DIY.

Not that hard. Asking for a price on here is a waste of time. But if you NEED a price off here then here it is: $3450.00+GST

why not get a price on having it vinyled?
that way, when you realise how stupid it looks, you can just peal it off

aaahahahaha, sorry deaf but that was pretty funny :P

dakine, and your best to take the car to the paintshop, rather than ask on here or over the phone. As they can see how much work is involved.

I got a $400 quoted over the phone, but soon came to $600 when he actually saw the car and size of the area to be painted

was more thinking if he meant 'crease' as in the rubber mould where the two colours meet form factory.

honestly mate just take it to a paint shop and get them to do it all, the money you will "SAVE" for such an easy job is not worth your time. a full workshop would be able to sand the roof in about 20 mins, your kidding yourself if you think you can do it cheaper. they have the paint there already, and will match it to your car. they buy sand paper cheaper than you as well.

A comment on the above link:

BIGGEST LOAD OF CRAP/SHIT I`VE EVER SEEN !!! PAINT A CAR WITH A ROLLER **** FFS WAKE UP, THAT WEEDS FCUKED YOUR HEAD, WHY NOT MASK THE PARTS NOT TO BE PAINTED THEN JUST THROW A COUPLE OF POTS OF PAINT OVER IT, THE MEN IN THE WHITE COATS ARE LOOKING FOR YOU.
IS IT TRUE THAT YOU WROTE "ONE FLEW OVER THE COOKOOS NEST" ???

I'd probably agree with this comment, I mean yes you can paint a car will rollers, i've seen it done, but not if you want a good finish :P
