Which (if any) Toyotas have an electric vacuum pump?

Postby Nova » Sun Jul 05, 2009 7:34 pm

I am looking for the vacuum pump to run a brake booster on a diesel, and heard that possibly MR2 and Estima/Emina vans have an electric pump?

Any truth to the rumours, and if so, how much are they?

Cheers.

dont think so,

diesil alternators have vacuum pumps, and some vehicles have a specific belt driven pump, but never heard of an electric one??

Simplest thing to do will be to get an external vacuum pump destined for a mini, the 1275GT's had em...

good point about the mr2..... i know ones with power steer use an electric pump for that, but do they run a vacuum line all the way up to the front for the brake booster, or is it indeed electric?

They run a line to the front, early turbos had a one way valve built into the booster, later they changed that to having one in line.

The late lucida diesels have a vacum pump on the rocker cover which is run off the cam by an arm on a lobe. Early ones still have a front pump on the alternator
