Is someone in wellington able to bend up some steel for me?

Postby cogent » Wed Jul 08, 2009 10:01 am

ok so I have a Jamex Imola bucket seat, and I bought a seat rail off trademe. The seller assured me it would fit with the bucket seat. No surprises to find out it didn't

The problem is the holes on the bottom of the seat are spaced out too far and are about 4cm away from the holes on the rail. I have used advanced CAD software to determine a solution, however I have no provisions to manufacture said solution.

Is there anyone in wellington who would be able to bend up two of the gray brackets shown out of 50x5mm plate steel before Saturday? I was hoping to have this seat fitted before the sealed autocross series at slipway.

Any other suggestions are welcome, I can provide any dimensions required at request.

Cheers!!

I have procured steel! Will be attempting ye olde vice and hammer tonight.

I had no idea plate steel was so cheap, 2m for $20 seems like a bargain to me and I doubt I got the best price they could do :D

Metalworx on vivian street, they were really helpful and even cut it down to 2 x 1m lengths for no extra charge :)

Another way is to hacksaw half way thru the point of the bend and then bend it to required angle and then weld it back up. Comes up mint
To finish first, first you must finish
