Turbo Diesel (Not Toyota)

Postby ee904age » Thu Jul 16, 2009 6:23 pm

My L200 ute has a 4D56 N/A diesel and am wanting a bit more grunt from it. With two people and two bikes on the back it struggles to do 90kph up anything more than a slight incline. I have access to an L300 4D56T turbo van with a siezed motor.

My motor has fairly high Kms but has been well serviced every 5000km since new (Its a 94), and is in pretty good condition.

Could I grab the manifold, turbo, injectros and injector pump off the turbo van and adapt them to my motor or will the N/A compression be too much?

Any help appreciated

i'd be surprised if the two engines were internally different to be honest

diesels are pretty rugged!

So dont I even need the injector pump and injectors? I notice the Ray Hall kit Here doesnt include any of that stuff so thats sweeeeeet.

What sort of boost would be safe to run? and will a smallish front mount (500x280x76) be ok?

On some diesels the pre combustion chambers are different and they run like a bag of shit. I would probably get it rebuilt with rings and bearings and get the turbo head cleaned up and whack that on too, as the 4D56 is (even though a scabby pile of Mitsi crap) a pretty good.

Good luck
