Turning off the dash clock on a ST141 Corona

Postby WeNdY^cLeAr » Sun Jul 12, 2009 10:37 pm

Okay, so this is probably a pretty dumb question, but as most of you know, I don't really know anything about cars!

I have ST141 Corona (awesome, I know!!) and I need to know how to disconnect the dash clock. Is there just some sort of fuse or something?

Thanks for any help! :D

Can't speak for all clocks, but mine has a plug in the back of it. So if you get the dash from around the clock off you may be able to just unplug it :)

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

Haha oh dear. I've come a long way since those days :P
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

everyone knows that you unplug the clock to stop it drawing power from the alternator and robbing the car of some HP.

I thought that was the logical answer....???

True if you think about it,

but the amount that it will help would be so small
it would probably have to be calculated not measured
and come out at about 1/1000th of a hp or something.

I don't think it will work though. My mates pulsar has no clock, while my girlfriends trueno does.

The trueno is definitely faster, therefore a clock obviously produces extra power which works like those earthing kits, except it adds power to the ECU.

Could this be moved to the FAQ's forum?

umm so what does the clock do if you dont have an ecu? the reason i am asking is i want to know weather i have made the right desstion by unplugging the clock in the corolla and setting it to 6 0clock and would it improve performance if i set it to 6:66? or should i just throw it out for weight reduction?

i unplugged my clock by reaching behind the dash and pulling the plug out btw

6:66 definately makes it run like a flying mammal out of the underworld.

I'd say you have definately lost 25hp ATW by only using one 6

Some stage 2 weight reduction should help your cause though

Stage 1 weight reduction is removing the clock,
stage 2 weight reduction is chopping the plug off the end of the loom and throwing it out too.
