Door Lock not engaging

Postby Jazza » Fri Jul 17, 2009 1:33 am

Car is a Honda Civic EG4
Ok, ill try and explain this as best as possible without photos - bear in mind, ive never played with locks much before either. Basically, having some trouble with the drivers side door lock not engaging, i can freely turn the key (Though it feels like its over turning on the unlock, and not turning enough on the lock) and i can move the interior lock relatively freely, though it feels like its catching.

Ive played with the lock mechanism itself, and cant tell if its adjustable (without removing the entire locking mechanism) and it also feels a bit sloppy (as in the cables/wires). Should it be a stiff smooth feeling when you turn the key? Or is it normal for these cables to be loosish?

Replacement or fix it?

the catch assy the piece inside the door that all the rods go to. should be around $45 from your nearest honda dismantler (or cheaper from pickapart)
