LOL got proof?

Maybe you got a limited spec one as every other standard blacktop cuts at around the 7800 mark.

I thought it was 8300? Our silvertop goes well past 7800.

hard to explain but .....if when the car is running and u very very slowly turn the key off towards the accesories (only a matter of degrees) you can turn the euc and eletrics off but still have the engine run. A guy in lower hutt showed us and his reved past 10,000!!!

Cambo1 now has the car of had the car for a while. Had a couple of rebuilds in its time haha

You on crack or something dude?

If you turn the ECU off on an EFI car, the car stops running. No injector pulses, no ignition pulses, so the engine wont run. Simple.

Also, rev counters aren't the most accurate things at times, so a car indicating that it's going 10,000rpm, might only be going to 8k in reality.

haha nah nah mate. well im 600% sure this can be done as i have done it before and my brother does it every now and again to see if it will die but alas 250000 kms of thrashing and it still goes. I may just have to take a video of it then ;)

Well I tell you for a fact, if the motor still runs, it wont be turning the ECU off.

It might be powering some stuff down, but I can't see what.

I'm also not entirely sure why you'd want to do this either. The stock rev limiter is there for a good reason.

Doesn't the ignition barrel acc switch control power to a relay that then powers various accessorys?

So if you cut power to the relay you cut power to everything running off that relay, and if you give power to that relay you give power to everything connected to it.

in short:

either:

a: bullshit is prolific here

or

b: aftermarket ECU, ie mines or sard with no rev limit. and extreme luck rod hasnt exited stage everywhere

but please, dont stop. my lol factor is high today

XSVWGN wrote:my brothers silvertop trueno reved out to 10000;) With the ignition in the trueno you can slowly turn the key around to off (from engine running) vey very slowly and it will turn off the eletrics and rev limiters but the engine will still run. You can hear it go past 7,8,9000rpm!!! its insane!

Not good for the engine clearly but the trueno is a piece of sh*t so gets a good thrashing!! As the engine were originally designed by Yamaha with moterbike essentials inmind i believe these things can rev out very far

Im sure someone will correct me if i am wrong...

it could turn out true. stranger things have happened. on blue moon nights.

it could be a forged motor and didnt even know it. how can you tell unless you crack it open.

i once found aftermarket cams in a 4age shortblock that was pulled out of a crashed daily. the owner didn't know until after i pull them out and told him.
i even suspect the springs where aftermarket.

edit. also i can take the key out of the barrel when its in ignition and the car still runs. ...only cos its a old ass toyota with tooth pick key and molested barrel.

Rev counter in my Aw11 sees the blacktop hit a pretty high redline.
Here's some incar footage at taupo but you can see the needle is buried in red 8O (AW tach goes to 9000rpm)
