r154 clutch installation questions

Postby deaf_rattle » Sat Jul 25, 2009 8:12 pm

With the release bearing.. does the replacable part go on the inside of the pressure plate?

just wanting to know as i havent worked with the pull type system before and we are trying to install the new clutch kit.

Also, the pilot bearing, what does it do? (is it just a guide for the input shaft?) and i presume it should be a tight/press fit? The replacement one we have sits in the crank loosely.

Cheers

the bearing must work against the surface to release,
on my rx7 pull type the release bearing is on the 'inside' of the presure plate.

the spigot bearing should be a press fit into either the crank or flywheel depending on the engine,

the clutch i have in my ute is a pull type (1jzgte/r154) the bearing is on the outside/gearbox side of the pressure plate and is installed with a circlip. once the box is bolted up there is a view hole that u push the fork up through and locate into the thrust bearing.

spigot bearing is to support the weight of the clutch plate when it hangs on the input shaft. should be a press fit into the end of the crank (hammer and a socket =) lol) but they are cheap as chips to buy from a retailer.
