DIY Mud Flaps

Postby Jazza » Fri Jul 31, 2009 6:48 pm

Need info from anyone who has made some before, i know how im going to make them/attach them, my main problem is what material to make them out of?

Needs to be slightly flexible to allow for wind/dragging on speed bumps etc, but needs to be solid enough that mud wont flick everywhere in a motokhana. Remember Gary made some for his GT4 out of a plastic/rubber feeling compound about 2-4 yrs ago? but couldnt find the post, nor the name of the company he bought it off. Only need enough for 1 car, 4 flaps so not prepared to buy in bulk

Polypropelene (sp?) is the material you use and it aint cheap.
approx $230 for a sheet large enough to make 4 mudflaps out of.

go to ludowichi plastics (think they also go by the name Mulford Engineering?), they're around mt wellington or onehunga from memory - they'll be able to sort you out the right stuff and if you're lucky they might have offcuts they'll sell you for cheap
