Personally I wouldnt worry about the legal side of it, thats just a big can of worms that no one needs to know about. If you trust the machinest/engineer enough then no worries.

Law is there for a reason. Usually because some important person with alot of time and money has looked into why it shouldnt be allowed, and there is USUALLY a good reason for it.
If pros say they can do it, make sure theyll put it in writing that it will pass certs/wofs etc just to be on the safe side.
