W55 shifter assembly

Postby l1ttle_d3vil » Sat Aug 01, 2009 6:20 pm

I'm going to machine up some bushes and a short shifter for my w55 box.
Only thing in the way are the shifter locator pin things - do they come out or what?
I've tried bashing them with a hammer but they don't seem to be moving.

Is there any special trick, or just a bigger hammer?

Hey, cool pic,

Mine were removed somehow, possibly drilled and new steel pins were made and refitted.

pretty sure there was a bloke on trademe selling the short shift exchange kits at a reasonable price a while back.

on a side note that is some pretty shabby lock wire on the bolts :?

personally i think my w series box feels ok without a short shift, i have a friend with a short shift kitted w series and the 3rd and 5th gates seem VERY close together.
