Remove Moisture From Tail Lights

Postby celica_xr9145 » Tue Aug 04, 2009 7:27 pm

Got some moisture in my rear tail lights, how do i get rid of it?

Do i have to remove the lens?
If so, how do you do it? Ive had a look at it but too afraid of cracking it :?

By the way, its a celica ST183 Gen 1 Tail Lights (RH side).

I bet its a really obvious answer that im not thinking of, lol

Thanks

I had to remove moisture from my levin's headlight. all i done was take the headlight off the car.. remove the cap on the back of the headlight where the bulb goes.. then put the missus's hair dryer on low aiming into the head light.. dried it all up for the wof.

As above, no need to disassemble the lamp.

If it keeps happening you'll need to put some sealant around where the lense clips in, most likely only around the top.

Possibly new o rings round the bulb holders.

But I just dry it out and leave it first to see of it happens again

thanks for the replies, beleive it or not, when i removed the light and bulbs water was gushing out so must have a gap somewhere.

Will try the hairdryer idea tomorrow, just worries me if it gets too hot something might happen to the lens and plastic.

Will look for the gap and will seal it after its all dry

I've chucked a set of plastic headlights in the oven @ 50°C before, no worries.

Its a hair dryer not a heat gun, i very much doubt it would do any damage.

Just tried the hairdryer and the oven idea, got most of the moisture out but it seems like alot of it is in the plastic?

I rub my finger over the drops but doesnt go

Depends where you take it i guess. you could hose the car down before taking it in... that way you have water drops over the car then they might miss it..
