Bluetop motor Blacktop power steer equipment?

Postby Maxwedge » Tue Aug 04, 2009 6:28 pm

Seems logical, has anyone tried this? Will blacktop power steering pump and brackets fit to a bluetop block, I dont want to buy this stuff when it may not fit. In an AE82 FXGT.

Brackets ought to fit, I think the later model PS pump is different though. Should be able to fit if you use a big enough hammer though :D

Just note that a lot of the 4age power steer pumps are not tensionable,

they use the air con bracket tensioner to tighten the p/s belt asn the pump is solid with no adjustment.

I had this problem with my AE85, i cheated and got a belt that was too tight for my setup and stretched it over my pullies.

is there a different flow ratio between the models? or pressure?
i had issues with a blacktop pump when i tried it on the ae85 rack.
could also have been a faulty pump though, as i just gave up after it didn't work.

AE82 pumps have a bigger pulley from memory hence slower turning. The belt stretch works everytime ;)
