Postby d1 mule » Wed Aug 05, 2009 11:33 pm

and its all coming along nicely just the fiddly gay bits left really

the car has a link G1 V5 set up for dizzy and 1 coil

basically should i go through the effort/expense to convert to CAS and twin coil or will it be ok running Dizzy 1 coil??
and do the dizzys fin in CAS heads??

there will be not noticeable difference in power with either system,

the dist and single coil setup will fit in and work,

so it's easier, cheaper, and not any worse off to run single coil.

Hey man,

I guess theres a little bit of wasted spark wank factor there to be had if youre after that or not,
otherwise i would say that if it is running standard boost etc, i would go/stay with dizzy to keep things less complicated and original.

Do you plan on racing it in the future?

yeah this year the car will be dedicated drift/race and in the future will try to get it all road legal.

will run about 14 psi 440cc injectors hopefully 200-250 whp

thanks guys :D

Ok good on ya man, reason I asked is because dizzy is fine for daily driver, but if you're gunna race it and run 1 bar of boost then thats a little different, you probably want to use wasted spark with some good evo coil packs.

Reason being is you may end up with what they call $&#$% or high power misfire, which is never fun. There are a few different causes for it but a gutless 4ag coil pack + dizzy can cause it.

Here is a link from link about it: http://www.linkecu.com/support/documentation/technical-notes/high-power-ignition-misfire-tech-note.pdf/view?searchterm=high+power

Then you know that you wont have problems with your ignition system in the future from insufficient spark etc.

single still works fine and ok.

I ran single coil on my race car for years,
20 plus psi boost, and 300hp atw, and never had a spark issue,

so it's n imporvement but not a necessity.
