Bugger: Interior Light & Clock Probem

Postby BZG Wagon » Sun Aug 09, 2009 8:40 pm

My interior lights, the door symbol in the dash, and clock in my '98 Caldina GTT are not working...

I've checked the fuse under the dash, and its fine. Tested the fuse with a multimeter to be certain - and the fuse istself has no issues.

The alarm still sounds when the car is armed, and I open a door (phew).

Any ideas what to check nexr? Checking the fuse is about as far as my knowledge extends (I wonder if the clock or something shorted - do these run in series - I presumed it would all be in parallel?).

Yes - all fuses under the dash at least. I've even tried switching the rear demimister & Interior Light fuses (both 30a).

i think interior light (courtesy lamp?) fuse is under the bonnets.
Clock may be faulty, tried hitting the dash? they sometimes have dry solder joints.
PM me for anything autoelectrical, Info or jobs etc....

Ah-ha!!! There's a fuse under the bonnet (dome) which has blown.

Presumably the 'Door' fuse under the dash is for power windows & mirrors?!?

I switched the fuse with the MIR HTR (both 7.5a)...

MIR HTR - Mirror Heater?!? WTF - Really???

Have you changed anything recently, new headunit etc? I know you have fixed it but it may be wise to get to the root of the fault.

Good to know - I'll keep that in mind for the cold mornings.

Another thing I found out GTT's, is that they have seatbelt pretensioners (occasionally the belt tightens when the cars is turned off). I've also seen a couple with side airbags - must have been an option?

I'd wish there was more info availible about Caldina's - it' strikes me as a 'safe' car.

I had a similar problem with my AE111 Levin, where some of the interior lights weren't working but my alarm still functioned et cetera. I took out the EFI fuse to reset my ECU and when it was back in I found all the lights and clock working as though nothing had happened.
