What a coincidence, I was following a legacy B4 on passing lane, the dude planted and there was stuff coming out of the exhaust (stock) that looked like exploded chicken

put a timing light on it, WTF is going on here................... have a good look at the dizzy, the bolt had come loose enough to let the dizzy retard itself the rest of the length of the slot, which retarded it about 20 degrees...................


dizzy now has 2 bolts in it with spring washers.................

speaking of mufflers exploding when i helped a guy who raced an escort it spat the fibreglass out of the muffler over the porshe that looks like a vw that races in the classics boy was it loud and a dizzy is short for distributor

I'll take the long shot theory first:
cambelt tensioner is not set correctly, as rpm increase your tensioner isn't holding tension and the cam timing goes retarded.

or: something else is retarding the sh it out of your ignition timing.

I'll take that as a win, maybe i should have written in bigger letters.
