Postby tech128 » Sun Sep 13, 2009 8:45 pm

i was doing a service on the altezza when i noticed that the right hand
inner guard area is covered in engine oil so i traced it to the air box and filter and it was nearly full
of oil
i can only think of this being a pcv hose fault or some times happends when over full which is happened to me on another car b4
after purchasing
any ideas /common things car has done 170k

could be gunked up head slowing oil from draining from the head and instead blowing out the cam cover vent hose.
or shagged rings pressurizing the crank case, with similar effect.

It's pretty normal for them to have a little bit of oil in the intake pipe but yours sounds really bad. Have you checked the PCV? There 6-8 cap screws holding the engine/cambelt cover on so it's pretty easy to get to once you get that off (amusing you have the 4cyl 3SGE).

Most oil leaks are caused by the crankcase presure being too high.
