oil level depth on a JZ motor???

Postby BlakeNZ » Mon Sep 14, 2009 1:51 pm

hi, can anyone help me. i have a front sump 2jzgte motor, and an assortment of dipsticks, and hence don't know which one to use. the motor was in bits when i got it. the last thing i want to do is spin a bearing due to low oil level. a measurement from a 1jz would be the same i am thinking. so i need to know how far from the bottom of the pan is the factory "full" level. Thanks for any help.

Why not just drain the oil, put 5L in, then you know it has the right amount. Check the level and mark which ever dip stick you end up using?

Mine's 555mm from the tip to where it sits against the top of the tube, 1JZGTE in a JZZ30.

Just a question about what you said Alex - how long do you think you'd need to leave an engine before it's fully drained? 10 mins should do aye?

And the engine should be hot?

Hot and till the drips stop while the car is tilted towards the drain plug.

Sort of off topic - but I normally buy the cheapest oil I can find, and run that through the system at idle for about 2-3 minutes giving it a few little revs to flush it - good/bad/got a better idea?

cheers
