I think if you give a full description of the sequence of events (on paper) and provide evidence where possible, WOF sheets, reciept for ball joints etc. They should let you off.
It would be pretty mean if they didn't.

Yep that is how I would go about it. Mine was earlier this year that I got off my 2 tickets, and only 10 minutes after failing my wof as well

There was a thing on Fair Go about these kind of tickets a little while back. Basically the councils said that if you got the WOF and wrote in to them then they would let you off it.

Dunno if its worth mentioning but, you can go for your wof up to 2 week prior to its current expiry date and it will post date your next wof. So you don't lose any days overlapping.

I believe the wording on the tickets has been changed to read "Failing to DISPLAY a current WOF/Rego" and there is no chance of getting off it unless you genuinely were displaying the correct one in your windscreen at the time of infringement.

Only time i have ever heard of someone getting off it was when the parking warden read(and ticketed) the rego as x/x/08 when it actually read x/x/09 and the dumbass actually got it wrong.

I was ticketed once when my car had a sticker for a 12 month WOF, when it should have only had a 6 month WOF. It was still in the 6 months so I rang up and managed to get off, but they said to get the correct sticker

Nah I got off this with Auckland city council, had bought the new rego ticket but it was in my wallet and hadnt got round to putting it in.

Wrote in a bullshit letter saying/lying that my rego holder was old and saggy and whenever I went round left hand corners the tickets fell out, said I was sorry and that I had a new holder now and got let off no worries.

Also got a ticket once as I didnt have a front number plate, it fell off and I never got round to replacing it, so be careful with that, got off that one as well though.

I got $400 bucks worth of fines for two cars i had parked outside, one with no warrant, but had been for a check and had rego, and another with a warrant but no rego, that was on hold.

got my mum to walk into council where you pay tickets a day after one another for each ticket, and got off them...

Good luck with it. It's one of those tickets that really depends on who you get when you go in. You may get lucky like other people have and be let off by virtue of having got a WOF. At the end of the day you still had a car out that wasn't legally allowed to be on the road so don't be too surprised if you don't get off the fine.

I usually do, mine was an exceptional circumstance of car only just being back on the road so needed new wof and for the first time in the 9 years I've owned it it failed the wof, cant get a rego without a wof......

Moron ex didn't come and pick me up to go to the lawyer in time so I had no choice but to drive the car as it was an hour walk from my work to the lawyer and there are no buses that go past my work.

Meh I got off and I'm happy that the council agreed with me.

Incidentally this car passed its wof the very next day and got a rego and has had both ever since.

Lol, writing to the council to get off a bullshite ticket is hardly rebellious. Burning down the council offices or shooting a parking warden would be more appropriate.

Although I am sure some of you guys know this, for those who don't.

If you want to make your WOF experiences much better get an inspection done 14 days before you current WOF expires - if you pass you will get 14 days added to the 6 month period - if you fail then you have 14 days of WOF left to sort your shit out.

So in reality the only reason anyone should get 'no WOF tickets' is being lazy or your car really shouldn't be on the road!

Ive had this happen to me about four times, sh1t mostlikely more. Just write a letter in explaining your situation with clear refrences and that should do the job. If you are able to speak to someone about it then even better. You will get off im 99% sure with refrences added.
