I have a Galant with a nice scrape down the side beginning from the front guard and ending at the rear quarter panel, and I went to four different places for quotes and I was quoted between $1300 and $2400 to get the job done. The dents on my doors are deeper and more pronounced too and I will admit I didn't like the idea of just bogging the doors up, but it's such a hassle getting new doors, stripping them out completely and repainting them inside and out (as they would be a different colour). It does suck that your car will no longer be 100% perfect and bog free cause of some idiot.

Replacing that door is a waste I reckon.

Q. How much bog is there in your average s/h door?
A. Probably more than what is required to fix your one.

yeah matching and painting the whole side of a car is not cheap.
and the price on those flares could be scary....

you also have to think about internal damage, its possible the internal bracing of the door is bent, so it's not just a simple pop it out job.

the car was pristine before, it is your right to have it restored to that spec.
but seeing as you don't have insurance... prepare for a fight....

Yeap, $2.6k is quite steep, I was expecting $2k max, but knowing panel beaters they like to rape people from behind.

Yeap it'd buff out but leaving ripples along the door.

The monsoons will be like... $200? out of the $2.6k, it just happened that I was reading out the list of things on the quote and he asked me to explain monsoon. he was saying "oh you don't need that", "It just clips on you can do it yourself when I get you the part".

Newsflash: Just received my email from his preferred panel beater.

$2.4k. Hmmm, in the note he said "This quote is without the monsoon and decals and I cannot find them"

but on the pdf file he attatched it reads

Code: Select all
Remove & Replace Units Amount

1. L R DOOR & ALL FITTINGS

2. LR SILL COVER

3. LR W/ARCH MLDG

4. MONSOON SHIELDS & REBACK 0.00 480.00

$480.00

(Yeap, all te units are in 0.00 too for other items)

I know if I push it to far I'll get nothing from him, that's why I'm totally holding my inner rage and talked to him nicely and told him to give me a call if his mate finds these monsoons, but dude, if the panel beaters have nothing, I don't know how the hell his mates can find them.

Shit, looks like I dodged a bullet a few years ago,

Wasnt paying attention at lights, accelerated when they were still red into the guy in front of me (WTF?) and smashed the rear end of his sedan, boot wouldnt close, smacked in bumper etc, but no broken lights. It was about a 5 year old galant.

The dude was excellent and 'had a mate' who fixed it for cash, straightened, painted and everything. I handed over $500 and never heard from him again. Lucky

Man just take 2k in cash and then buy this one
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Cars/Suzuki/Wagon/auction-243259860.htm
Swap your good parts over, sell your damaged one for 2k and you have made money
8)
Honestly, I think you could be pushing it a bit to far, he could have been real nasty about it, i.e it wasnt me driving, stuff you get lost etc.

I would take a cash settlement and spend it on something worth while, rather than on something that is not going to gain you value. I.E do you think that to a person buying a used car that that is 2.4k worth of damage?
At the most that would be 1k off your asking price. Esp as you have said that the car is already in a rough condition...

CASH SETTLEMENT BABY!!!!!!!!!!

He's not paying.

Called him again today for the quotes without the monsoon.

He says come out have a chat, I said sure, coz by the sounds of things he ain't paying, can't get any worse.

So I met up with him, he's giving me the "It'll buff out", "no way it's $2.5k worth of damage" BS story.

I told him "Look mate, the fenders won't 'just buff out'", , I told him it ain't me who quoted this but it's his buddy panel beaters, and my fenders... they're half an inch off from the door, the panels are dented.

He's saying there's no way his car hit me, I'm trying to "con" him.
Right.

Then he parked his car right next to mine, he said it with a straight face that the damage does not match up. Dude, they're level, right next to each other, he only have a slight scrape on the bumper (he cleaned it up), he said I pulled into his lane.

I told him, look, the fact that only the front right corner of your bumper has a slight scrape just proves more that your car cut into my lane and I was infront of your car.

He asked me what insurance I'm with, I told him outright I don't have any insurance (No point lying to him as if he'll just say go to your insurance company and sort it out, which means is a lose for me anyway).

Then he just said he ain't paying, I said come on stay for a bit longer let's have a talk over this thing.

He ran back into his car, close his windows and took off with haste.

Oh yeah, he replaced his broken mirror already. Although he denies it was broken in the first place.

Yes courts is my only hope now. I ain't gonna fuxx around will go sort him out as soon as I can.

I know where he lives, 77 Woodward Road in Mt roskill, public information (just type ROEBOT Renovations in google).

I don't have independent witness as such but I have 2 passengers as witness.

He's the type of bloke that is trying to run away from problems so I don't think he'll turn up in court.

Gonna sort him out first thing tomorrow.

you will be lucky if you see $20 a week from him after small claims court.
had this exact thing happen to my aunt ages ago, got payment from the first two months then nothing,

if you do win the claim sell the claim to a local gang to pick up money.
