C56 into ae101, BT headers on ST engine, clutch questions

Postby headshotnz » Mon Oct 19, 2009 8:51 pm

After a long wait i finally got some money together for a new gearbox.

I went to pick a part today and there was a ae111 s/s levin/trueno.

So i grabbed the c56, the headers and the cam cover... :D

Ill be starting the swap in the next few days, just got to buy a new clutch.

Also what type of clutch should i get? Was going to get one from repco as i can get good prices :) and when they ask what year levin i have (assuming there wanting the gearbox (c52/c56/c160/e58 etc etc) code) should i tell them its made after 93 (year c56's came out, i think.)

Is there any thing else i should know before doing the swap?

Also is it worth putting the blacktop headers on, and if so, do i use the 4-2 section from the BT and use the 2-1 section from the ST or BT? Also is there is dyno charts with this mod?

Cheers guys

BT 4-2 section and make a custom 2-1 section (500mm long if I remember correctly, someone will say otherwise), pay attention to the part that goes over the crossmember ie get rid of the squish.

Ah i see.

I cant custom make my own 2-1 section, however i have the ST and the BT 2-1 section. So which would be better to use?

I heard ( well rather read) a rumour that the pressure plate from a 2ZZ Ceilca will also fit on a Blacktop Flywheel and has more clamping pressure. If so, would be a good option

Can anyone tell me if this is BS or true. I did read it on Twincam.org forums :?
