Interislander Ferry

I'm going to a mates wedding at the start of next year at Nelson and i'm starting to look at booking accomodation and ferry.

Any recomendations on which ferry to go for? Arahura or Kaitaki?

Will be taking the Corolla but that seems fairly ok with drive ways etc so i don't think i'll have too many issues getting on or off. But the main thing is i don't want to be going on some old crappy boat!

EDIT: Or as recommended by NILPSI Bluebridge?

really not a lot to choose between them as far as age/quality goes.
so really just choose re timing or cost, which ever is more important.
take books, ipod, magazines etc. it is VERY boring

i use bluebridge each time i travel. I have put my corolla on the bluebridge and it sits very low and had no issues

I guess the other thing is how well the staff treat passengers and their cars. Heard stories about when AE92's etc came out ferry staff were tying down the back off the car using the lower arms which where then bending

you will only be tied down if its VERY rough, and then probably depending on where they put you.
I personally never seen a car tied down and I've been on it quite a few times.

ha bluebridge. i owned my intercooler once going up their ramps. it was hanging very low tho since it was a 600x300x75 intercooler.

Bluebridge staff were really good when I took my old SW20 down south, they had a chap guide me up the ramp so as not to scrape the bejesus out of it. Really though, they're 6 of one, half dozen of the other.

bluebridge was slightly cheaper until I googled for a promo code for the interislander and found one for like 25% off.

The Kaitaki is the latest, ex-ocean liner kind of thing from europe I think.. so it's a bit nicer. However, they are all the same price and depends on sailings really.

was on the arahura and the other small one the other week
much of a muchness..... both boring! :lol:

i also noticed the food prices difference between them... and they all now have a bar in the front lounge rather than just a coffee counter
