radar detectors

What's the legal status of these in New Zealand? All I know is they were thinking of banning them a while back, havn't heard anything about it for quite a while though

I was reading a previous thread about this, and it seems like some people have had problems with police in regards to radar detectors in the past?

Isnt illegal atm, and ive never had any problems having one on my window. Mines relatively hidden tho, so cant really see it without knowingly looking for it.

I was pulled over by a cop, when he was checking my wof and reg he paused his flash light where you can clearly see suction cup marks on my windscreen where I put my radar detector.

He was like

cop - "you got a radar detector?"
me - "yep"
cop - "did you put it away as I was pulling you over? Cause your allowed to have them"
me - "nah, I just use it for road trips, I don't need one in town"

he just carried on as normal.

That was maybe 2 months ago?

They are awesome I highly recommend beltronics sti xr (only one I have used).
I thought they were overrated till I got one.

I have a V1, saved my friend from getting done at 140 k/m, cop never said anything about it when he pulled us up.
They're not illegal.

Who needs a radar detector when you have Spidey Sense!

However, its something that seems to come round once a year, but never has anything done about it.
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

I missed the photo, can you post it up again?

On topic though, I used to have a cobra POS, did the trick, but it was never going to protect me 100% so I go oh natural now and take it on the chin when I get snapped
