Well hey all, funny, phil posted this and i just found it.

Anyway IM THE GUY DOING THIS PROJECT

to clear some things up, i like rotary's and i like AE86/5's (mine cost $300 4 months ago and needed attention). this is going to be a damn cool car when its done and have nothing but great coments by the people that have seen it in progress.

The 12a is not turbo, it has 12a turbo housings but has standard non turbo compression. it is getting bridge ported after wiring is finished this week

Done so far

*full nolothane bush kit front and rear
*converted from power steer to manual (have power steer rack for sale)
*MA45 celica disk brake diff
*hand brake cables fitted and working
*new inner and outer tie rod ends
*manual pedal box, master cylinder
*TE71 brake booster (bigger than AE86)
*lovels springs
*GT corona vented front brakes and struts
*Bendex metal king pro brake pads
*trans tunnel is complete, welded etc (will fit 13bt gear box)
*engine cross member and mounting complete
*gearbox cross member complete
*guards cut pumped and welded
*15x8 rear and 15x7 front longchamps xr4
*running 195/45 tires
*full 2 1/2 inch exhaust, dytech rotary muffler with 4" dumpy(done today)
*autotecnica reclinable bucket seats on factory rails (black)
*de-loomed engine bay
*fibre glass bonnet with reverse scoop and louvered
*black carpet
*battery in the boot

left to do

*at the shop getting wired up now
*fit 48mm IDA weber (anyone got a manifold for me?)
*fit 500 hp weber fuel pump
*fit malpassi fuel pressure rg
*fit slave cylinder for clutch
*bleed brakes
*driveshaft (ready next week)
*retrim door panels, dash in black vinyl (cost $130 for materials)
*retrim back seat in black cloth ( will get done professionally)
*some panel beating
*Paint (tiger mica gold with red pearl in the clear coat, black bonnet)

Im estimating this car will be on the road certified and painted in 6-8 weeks. the car owes me $5000-$5500 so far, bugger all, but mainly because most of the work has been done by me, and the only other thing i need to pay for is the wiring this week, leads, spark plugs and piping for the radiator.

no im not a redneck, and this car will be pretty damn cool to some people, but not everyone like rotarys but hey, its my car, and i have been wanting to do this convertion for about 3 years.

Jebus wrote:In New Zealand its a bad idea, because the majority of New Zealands rotarys are built for noise, cost $200 to build with second hand parts and thier cousins mates boyfriend ported it with a die grinder. If this is why hes doing it, and im geuss he is from the style of your thread and how you spelt 'rota'.

Over seas they build rotarys properly, there are rouglhy 4213423 aussie street rotarys running 10's and below.

What im getting at is if he wants a sh*t load of power (i.e more than can be made from an A or S series motor comfortably) and wants to keep the engine compact and small with no chopped firewall etc. then by all means...

If he wants a 'rota' cos 'rotas' are cool then tell him to get a DX.

Oh i have a DX also hahaha

I think it's not a bad idea, personally the best thing about it IMO is that someone is prepared to "walk the walk" as it were.

Pics when she's done :D

Welcome back to TS Karl :)

on topic, anything that makes it go better than a 4age has got to be a good thing

Oldie but this is what I'd do if I was to do it.

(skip to 1:45 to see the goods).
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.
