celica projector headlamps

Postby ihavelift » Mon Nov 30, 2009 5:49 pm

I just bought a pair, and have been scrambling around trying to find out what sort of bulbs they take. I don't get it! how is it that nobody can f*cking know what they take. If you are just guessing, please don't post, but if you know what the take then I'd really like to know.

Not HID are they?

not H4, not H1, not H7, not HB3/HB4 .... it says HC3 on the headlamp unit, which is something i've never heard of?

Called a mate that works at toyota parts, and he says it's a "single stream" bulb or something, and farken expensive ... can anybody shine a light on this? Seriously, it should not take over 4 hours to change some bloody headlights.

Number is 021856524, if you could see your way clear to txt/call me in response to this it'd be better than posting a reply.

Cheers

By the way these are the headlights for a facelift celica st202 (and st205?)

here's a technical diagram of assembly:

well since I've done the swap.

Ok first which bulb plugs/connectors are you running??

you can run H1 and H4 bulbs (they need wiring in)

did you have a look at the projector swap guide?

the high beam lights should plug in

the high beams were sweet.

maybe it is H3, I just used the connectors that came with it, i will take a pic and post up soon.

For now I'm wiring back in the old lamps. So gay, old style head lamps and projector high beams. uh :(

they are H1 for low beams on the top of the light it says:
Housing >> PP >> T20
H1
...
I forgot you have to change your low beams aswell since that connector is slightly different, yup annoying

options
1# run 5gen Celica low beam and park light connectors park light aswell (wreakers or members on here should have them)

2# Get the connectors off toyota
http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_J_1999_T ... 101.2.html

park lights
81615D SOCKET, CLEARANCE LAMP
99159-10228 ST20*

For low Beams you need the connector thats joins up to these ones (81145A ADAPTER ASSY 90075-99123 ST20*) try going to an auto store for something like these

And i looked at that toyota catalogue link, I don't understand a single word of what's going on in there.

So yeah, anybody able to give me something they know will work? Rusty what did you do to convert?

does that connector plug into the newprojector lights? If I remember correctly you should have the bulb sitting in a black housing then the rubber ring around it sealing it. right? if the connector you have posted a pic of connects with those parts, you just need to CUT* your old low beam head ligh wires and crimp the wires out of the connector to the light loom and they'll run

maybe post a few pics of the backs of your projectors and the plugs

You sure its not H3C?

If you look at that, and compair the cut outs to your first photo it looks pretty similar, that looks like an H4 style connector you have there, but using spade connectors you should be able to adapt something to work easy enough.

so i'm thinking i'll just order some connectors from toyota and give it a crack. Nobody seems to have been able to give me a straight forward answer so i'll just do it my way.
