I've done a bit of searching and found nothing terribly helpful so I figured I'd ask.
92 ae101 Levin silver top 20 valve
About a month ago the car wouldn't start in the morning, cranked but wouldn't fire. Checked the plugs, no spark. Pulled the dizzy cap off and it looked half fkd, contacts weren't looking too flash so I cleaned them up and also the rotor and re-fitted them. Car fired up, sweet.
Bought a new cap and rotor and the car ran fine. First drive after the new cap and rotor I drove to the servo to fill up. Car wouldn't start at the servo, same thing, just cranking, not firing. Pulled the cap off and refitted it (nothing flash) and it fired up again and ran fine.
When I got it home I thought it may have had something to do with the coil lead or something so I had the car running while I jiggled a bunch of stuff, had no issues the car kept running.
It had been running fine since then until Saturday, in town car wouldn't fire up, same thing as before, cranked but no spark, pulled the cap and refitted it, no luck this time though.
Cars home now, I have tried replacing the coil and igniter, still wont fire. I'm thinking maybe the dizzy is toast or something but I'm not sure how to check if it's any good. Should this be the next thing I look at? I suppose ideally I would replace a bunch of parts with known good ones until I find the broken bit, but I don't know anybody else with one to ask.
Is this a problem anybody else has had before?
What else could it be?
Is there anything else you might need to know?
Thanks
