I would start with replacing the fuel filter if you don't know when it was last done.... quite common... enough fuel for slow but put your foot down and it bogs

Short out TE1 and E1 on the diagnostic plug in the engine bay. It'll flash the engine check light, and thus giving you any fault codes. All easily found on the interweb 8)

I have checked the fuel tank, and I mean taking it out and pouring the fuel out....and in doing so noted that the pump looks like new ...the inside of the tank is clean and the fuel that came out had a very small quantity of dust...and I mean you can hardly notice that there is dust in it...I have checked the rotor and distributor cap those are good...what I have done is check the code that I'm getting when I connect TE1 to E1 and it is code 21............

21 is O2 sensor.

you'd look pretty clean if you'd been soaked in petrol for 20 odd years too.
but you'd be f***ed....

Low fuel pressure means low fuel flow, this means ya motor will idle OK, mabey rev out slowly and even drive. but under load the injectors open and drip if at all, misfiring, backfiring, it may seems like a timing or ignition fault but its a lack of timed/atomised fuel.

Its a thought, that would be a good reason for excessive rich running. although totally agree, you need to change the o2 sensor if its never been done, genuine retail & trade sucks ass, get a revised price if ya smart! 19 years old at the youngest aye

Depending which one do you use. What you can do is hook up voltmeter to VF/E1 output, if it is 0 all the time, it means OX (Oxygen sensor) is most likely stuffed (as ECU is compensating what it sees as lean condition), if it 2.5V at idle @2000rpm then something else is faulty.

As for OX reading you need to see switch overs (going from near 0V to near 1V) and how fast it is switching, if it is jumping all over place, it is probably fine, if it is not outputting anything (stuck at 0V) it is most likely OX is clogged by sooth (at least, at most there is something else wrong and stuffed OX is a symptom). You can clean OX and check it at same time with butane torch, just hook up voltmeter and run the flame on the sensing end, if you start getting 1V steady out put, the OX is fine.

Let me first say THANKS to everyone who gave me a bit of advise on what to do,however I found out that it was the fuel pump that was not delivering the correct volume of fuel when the engine was on load...THANKS again guys.......
