Postby TRD_ZERO » Fri Dec 18, 2009 7:33 pm

Ok so itried putting the map on my link. link connected to the pc fine the link had a map on it now is there a process i go through to remove the old map and put the other one on. The way i think i loaded my map was i just opened the new map and clicked store. Unplugged the ecu and plugged it back in again and the map i want loaded up on the link screen. Is that how its done or am i doing it all wrong?

if the map is on there then yes.

connect to the link in pc link. then file -> open choose the map you want to use. it will ask you if you want to download to link.. then you need to do a store after its downloaded to link

Yeah it automatically asks for me to store it. Does it store more than one map on it? Will it run on the map that i now stored? Cause i reloaded it and it came up with the old map again then i opend the map i wanted and stored it.

your new map should overwrite the old one. old one should be long gone if you did it right. what version link is it ?

when you store the map you have 3 options:

* store to the link ecu only - this will wipe all other settings on the ecu and install the map you select
* store to the pc hard drive - this will save it as a .pcl file onto your computers harddrive, nothing to do with the link ecu. then you can email it or keep it as a backup etc.
* store to link ecu + pc hard drive - does both of the above in one go.

if you make changes to the map then switch the key off before storing and disconnecting the ecu from the pc, it won't save anything. so if you load a new map or alter one, and decide its crap and want to revert back to the old one, just switch your ignition off without storing anything.

edit - btw this is for a link g3 with the pclink software... g2 would be the same/similar i would imagine.

Its a g3. There is only a store option not load. I just connect the link to pc open the map i want, it automatically asks me to store, i click yes to store and thats all ive done so im hoping that will do the job.

opening a map will load it onto the ecu and start using that map. if the pc is connected to the link, whatever you have on the PClink screen at the time of storing is what will get stored on the ecu, as long as you have "store to link ecu" ticked.
