Unlikely to be the coils, they're more likely to fail at high boost and/or high RPM than at idle.
There is no real way to test the coils for intermittent faults. The check engine codes will be transient and only tell you if there has been a misfire, not what caused it.

They checked over my car yesturday and couldnt find anything, but said when they were checking fault codes the O2 sensor dropped off a couple of times, so im getting that fixed, they said they can source an aftermarket O2 sensor for about $100 (+labour), thats getting fitted next week, so hopefully that does something
