lowering blocks/brake performance

Postby d1 mule » Tue Jan 05, 2010 4:34 pm

right, the only thing my van if failingg its WOF on at VTNZ is rear brake in-balance, the right hand drum locks up and the left doesnt.

its previous WOF it had no such issues, and the only thing i can think of thats changed is its now got 2" blocks in the back.

i know that have a proportion valve of sorts to alter brake pressure depending on load,

could this be causing it to be on the piss???

iv had both drums off and adjusted the both and all looked good

thanks :D

oh its a 1995 hiace diesel

Shannon, have come across this heaps with vans and Hilux's of similar vintage.
often caused by a siezed adjuster, overheating the lining material on the opposite side.

make sure its bled , adjusters arn't siezed and rasp the linings with 60 grit and take for quick drive relying on the handbrake. If that dosn't get them balanced, the easiest way to fix is replace the linings.
I've been a bad bad boy. I should read the rules and behave before I get spanked by an admin

f#@k you i won't do what ya tell me
