Exhaust size for 3sge Curren

Looked under my st206 Curren to see what was causing the tinny rattle around 2500rpm and discovered the whole exhaust system is about shot and needs replacing

I don't want it loud, and will be running with a couple of resos and a largish muffler out back, but am not sure what the 'best' pipe size is for one of these?
I'll be making it myself, so don't have an exhaust shop to ask for advice

Basically looking for an upgrade from stock replacement - little bit of a note and better flow. I'm not really up with na exhaust sizes - so whats the go?
2"? or 2.25"? or 2.5"?
