Its all sorted!! This morning i checked voltages again with the help of my bro in law. Found i did actually have power at the starter (whoops ) but had no power anywhere else, including the fusebox. So i unwrapped the loom, and found on the positive wire to alt/fusebox etc, someone had 'repaired' it with wire far too small for the current, and it had just melted and became brittle as. So we soldered in a new big bit of cable and she fired up no sweat
