Distributor position on a blacktop?

Postby TRD_ZERO » Sun Jan 17, 2010 12:01 pm

Abit of an odd question here im just wanting to get my ignition timing as close as possible before i try start it up and then get someone to time it with with a timing light when its running.

What i would like is pics of other peoples distribution postions. There is a small tag on the side of the dizzy pointing to the front of the car. Photos of where that tag sits within regard to the head would be awesome, so that i can put mine as close as possible before i get it done properly.

Thanks photos would be much appreciated.

It goes exactly in the middle of ~4 mm lip on the head:

Because the dist can not be put in the wrong place due to the offset drive on it,

I have found that 1/2 way through the adjustment will be fine to start and probably wont be too far off.

Depends on what you want the timing to be, 5, 8 or 10.
