Park lights staying on

Postby Emperor » Fri Jan 22, 2010 4:24 am

I know its not a Toyota, but just incase anyone has a fair idea, or has had the same problem..

I got home from town just before, jumped out of car, sweet as. Next thing park lights pop on... Went back in car made sure no switches were on, turned lights on and then off again, all was sweet for 5 seconds then they come back on..

Now I don't think there's a park light switch in the car, other than on the stalk.. So could it be a wiring issue? Ground etc? Ill give it a good check tomorrow, but thought i'd ask incase anyone on here has had this.

Does it have an alarm? If so does it flash the park lights? Try and find the park light relay and give it a bash.

Nah, no alarm, and the central locking makes the indicators flash.

Its not doing it now. But my gearbox light is on, and it doesnt display with gear (P, R, N, D) on the dashboard, or make the reverse beep anymore. lol

Sounds like the same headlight switch issue that the R32's had.......

Is there an auto position on the headlight switch?

Cos some of the nissans that do have the relay pack by the radiator and they fill with water.

sounds pretty typical nissan bud, the layers within the switch are really close together and eventually with heat etc the thin grease in the switch solidifies abit and power can track between the contacts,
if they stay on for a while you will be able to feel the heat from the bottom of the column, either remove it and clean it up or get a new switch ($150 odd)
PM me for anything autoelectrical, Info or jobs etc....
