Link LEMG3 boost control - how to?

Postby thegreatestben » Fri Jan 22, 2010 6:53 pm

Having my g3 wired in next week.
How do I go about using the superb boost control I hear the G3 has?
I bought the Mac valve as shown in the Link installation PDF on the link website, but it doesn't really say too much about setting it all up.

How have others here done it?
An adjustable knob would be the go but a high/low switch would be fine.

its a case of trial and error setting it up.

it just sets the duty cycle to the valve agains rpm once boost comes on.

setting it up with a knob or two and a switch aint too hard. and if you want to get fancy you can have it switch to high boost automatically once your up an running in the higher gears.

Superb would be an overstatement, it's pretty much as basic as it could possibly be in my limited experience. The megasquirt (e.g very cheap) boost control is lightyears ahead, I couldn't believe it when I was altering the boost map on a friends G4 storm.

You're basically setting solenoid duty cycles for a given RPM level, totally trial and error to get it where you want it.

I'm sure it'll work sweet once you've got it set up but closed loop boost control is so much cooler.

Set mine up a while ago.

Wire it up to an output and program to suit.
Easiest way it to fit a variable resistor to the ECU and program from there,
otherwise you are constantly trying and adjusting all the time till you get it set.

I set the low zones quite low and the higher ones about 20% higher,
then adjusted it until you are close,
then see where in the boost map it is running and re-spread the numbers.
