Re instaling a factory head unit in ae101 Trueno

Postby andrewgreen1000 » Mon Jan 25, 2010 1:17 am

I know this might sound a bit stupid, but my aftermarket HU Decided to crap out on me, as it it would no longer play cds or mp3s off the USB, I decided to put back in the factory unit, and pull out my sub and amp combo for the moment untill i can afford to get a decent head unit.

the only problem is that I took out the adaptor loom and plugged everything in right, i think! When i switch on the lights etc the illumination works, but nothing else does, it wont even turn on!

any advice/thoughts on how to get it going it sucks not having any sound!?

I plugged the two plugs from the loom into the back, and the loom thing that came out of the HU into the wires loom going to the factory amp which i also reinstalled installed at the same time! oh and btw when i did it i disconnected the battery, and afterwards i did check the fuses.

I can provide pics if that is helpful?

Thanks
Andrew

Check under the passengers seat. Mine had a factory installed amp under there that I had to remove to get the aftermarket stereo to work.

This may be a bit wild, but is it factory secured? I have experienced factory head units before that after dead batteries and such you need to put a code in using the radio preset buttons to get them working.

Yeah nothing does come up untill you press the right code into the stereo.

But if its not that, pull it out and using a multimeter check for 12v on the correct wire on the stereo when the car is running.

Alright Found my camera, and took some pics

This is the back of the HU with the plugs plugged in, I know there is the 12v going to it as it powered my Aftermarket one fine, and the loom itself hasnt been messed with, cos there was an adaptor loom.

This is a pic of the plug i have connected the wire coming from the HU into that *should* go to the amp.

*edit* the two plugs below are the exact same shape as the ones on the Head unit...

hopefully someone can give me a hand!
