I've noticed that the temp. gauge in my 101 FX GT acts the same as TRD_ZERO describes; I've also heard of this exact same behaviour from a work colleague's 101 FX GT, can anyone shed some light on this?

I had exactly same problem on my AE101, I pulled out thermostat only to find out it was jammed open, I have seen a few other AE101 with similar problem. Even my ST205 had similar problem .

If the temp drops on the open road compared to normal,
the it will use more fuel as it will be running on cold fuel program.

Not only that, but also it will go into pre-warm mode if outside is cold enough : no VVT, lower rev limiter etc.
