cleaning out fuel tank

Postby bluemaumau » Tue Feb 02, 2010 8:29 pm

so my fuel tank is out of the car at the moment

it looks to have a oil like sludge in it. (noticable if you run a finger inside it)

what would be my best bet to clean it out?

its been sitting in the car for a while with next to nothing in the tank.

i was thinking maybe a few litres of 98 and a washing machine action.

ideas?

Gotta do the compulsory lighter near the open hole trick afterwards tho..

With just vapor, one tank danced 1/2 meter off the ground :)

I've just done this myself, used 98 & a rag taped an old metal bracket, then did the swishy swashy motion to get the remainder of the crap out.
