Injector resistor pack

Postby TRD_ZERO » Sun Feb 07, 2010 5:13 pm

OK so i got a ballast resistor from a prelude at pickapart today.....damn bitch ripped me off. Anyway how do i wire it up? It has 5 wires, four black and one red. Where exactly do i wire them and what not. Step by step instructions would be awesome.

Check it with an Multimeter first. It should be about 5-10ohms resistance between the red and each of the black wires.

Red wire to +12v ignition, 4 black wires to the injectors.

They charged me $22 she said it was a sensor but i kept telling her it was a resistor like stated on the board for $5, dumb bitch thought she knew better. FYI dnt argue with the people a pickapart.

Which wire on the injector do i wire it to? Or can i wire it from the wires that come off the link computer (IGT and the injector outputs)

Doesn't matter which one but there should be a common wire colour(Brown??) on all the injectors so I'd use that

No you can't because the circuit goes;

Power->Resistor->Injectors->ECU->Earth.

In other words the injectors are powered all the time and the ECU switches them to earth.

Or Power->Injectors->Resistor->ECU->Earth

as that's how I wire them when I wire a car,

but manufacturers do it your way from factory usually,
and it really makes no difference.

Can't do it that way with a resistor pack with only one power wire, you need four wires in and four wires out with separate resistors to do it your way with sequential injection. Which is why manufacturers do it the other way, less wiring and less failure points ;)

Ah, yes bugger. Got caught with that a while back too on a job.

I usually run individual resistors per injector is why i got messed up.

one power wire from the switched ignition source and one of the 4 outputs from the resistor pack to each injector then you should be sorted.
