1977 Ke30 Charging

What should my 1977 Corolla Ke30 battery be charging at when running?? is it around 14.2v?? at the moment is charging at 13.4V and when car is turn off its reading 12.4v and in the morning after sitting all night it reading 11.9 ish volts (keep inmind its got a mongoose 5 star alarm with central locking etc). cheers

13.4v is all good, pretty sure my starlet used to charge at around that voltage.

How old and what size is your battery?

13.4 is marginal.

13.2 is the actual voltage of a charged battery in theroy,

so 13.2 you can say is the boarderline.

However modern batteries need higher voltage,
and if you are having problems it may not be enough,
aim for more like 13.9 to 14.4v.

Check the voltage at the alternator B+ terminal with the earth on the alternator bracket and see what you get,
which will tell you how much you are loosing through the wiring.
