Just bought a toyota trueno AE111 its standard automatic at the moment. Will do the engine and the transmission to manual by the end of the year. Does anyone know where i could get a good deal on a 4AGE Blacktop and a manual gearbox? Also need a mechanic who could do it up professionally. Im in Auckland.
To be honest you are better off just buying a bzr mate, once youve got the engine, box, accessories etc and paid someone to do it then hired a trailer and taken it for a wof and cert you are looking at some serious cashcoolnik12 wrote:Just bought a toyota trueno AE111 its standard automatic at the moment. Yeah thats true mate, i got this one on a very good price, paid 2k for it and plus im saving up till the end of the year so might as well do it when i get money, or if i have enough by the end of the year then il sell it and get a BZR. Hopefulli i wont be too attached to it

cogent
I think even at the price you paid, its gonna be cheaper just to get a BZR. I saw a 96, manual, blacktop on a car yard for $3499 on the way home from Auckland on the weekend. They are dead cheap these days, and a hell of a option for value/performance.
Blacktop engine: $850-$1200 depending on how complete and condition
BZR box:$250-$350, same as above
Linkages, clutch bits/lines, interior trims: $300ish
5-8 hours to complete swap at a mechanics rate of $60 - $300-$480ish
So even at the cheapest end its still around $1700ish.
