welding aluminium

Postby callum » Sun Feb 21, 2010 2:18 pm

hey i just noticed theres a hole in my gearbox where a piece of aluminium has broken off. the gearbox is a c52 from a 4age ae101. the hole is around 5mm in dia. i would like to keep the gearbox as it ran fine. what is the best way to fix this? i assumed welding it would be the way to go but a couple of the people i asked said its probably wouldnt work since it might be diecast. do any of you guys know whether welding is a good option? my next guess is that kneed it stuff which im sure will work fine but when ever i see it used any where i instantly think of dodgy repairs.

any info would be great.
