bracket on silvertop 4age

On the 4age the little bracket at the bottem that connects from the engine to gearbox is that actually needed? as i don't have one

Also does it matter that my engine mount is from a 4afe and does not that have that little bit in white circled?




Just putting the engine and everything together soon so just want to make sure..

dual alternator brackets

I would say that anything that helps keep your gearbox attached to your engine is a good thing, especially if you plan on giving it a bit of abuse. time to visit pick-a-part

that one with dual alternator brackets is a RWD project someone was doing.

As far a I remember that bracket to the gearbox you have pictured is only on rwd models,

as the RWD the whole lot engine and gearbox pivots on 3 mounts,
where as FWD has 3 mounts on the engine alone.

and not sure about the second part you have mentioned?
Never founb a use or need for it myself,
but if your worried about it I can sell you one for $20 delivered.

also since i used my 4afe engine mount rather than the 4age one, will that cause me any problems?

the 4afe right hand mount wont work you need the 4age block and chassis mount that match up then they will just bolt in. The bit in white is a little mount that bolts to the head for extra support, Your best to just find the right one probably save you alot of issues.

that alloy part under the sump will be the same item on your 4afe so you could swap it over.........

The one you first pictured in intake side and is the RWD bracket,

the second one you posted id on the exhaust side and is the FWD one,

and yes i was a bit wrong too,
as that mount in the pic is actually on the g/box not the block.

heh yep fwd has 3 mounts on gearbox, one on engine.
if using 4afe 'engine mount' if its from the same series car then can't think why it would be a problem. ive fitted an ae82 engine mount to my 20v to fit into the ae82. bolted in fine.
20v have that alloy gbox brace with one bolt on each side of the block. 16v have the cast steel braces, one brace on each side with two bolts.

i thought that metal thing between cam gears was to stop the belt jamming between the sprockets if it broke. heh.
i have ae101 (trueno) mounts lying around if you need one.

if its the 7afe alloy sump/steal pan, would it have the gearbox mount(support) integrated into the alloy sump like the gen3+ 3sgte sumps do?

The alloy piece in question, was on my AE101 20v. It bolted to the bottom half of the bellhousing and to the side of the block.

Thats because its not a sump, its a bellhousing bracket
