e series diffs, whats the highest common ratio?

Postby Psycho_Dad » Tue Feb 23, 2010 10:31 pm

hey guys
just wondering what the highest ratio diff you can get for the e series diffheads

i have a 4.3 2 pinion lsd avalible from a liteace but would like something with a higher ratio in the future, around 4.8 or even higher? possible

any ideas? if i cant get higher then i wont bother, its for my lil suzuki van, i just blew its 3rd diff so time for an upgrade, and its ratio is 5.6!!!!!

Peace

they are around but rare as rocking horse shit. i have like 3 e series diffs going spare. pretty sure 1 is a 5.1. locked tho, but you could put your lsd unit in i guess. not sure on the ratio of the other two i have

edit: none of mine are lsd and i couldnt get an lsd so i changed complete rear end in my starlet to rx7.

E282 isnt a LSD code mate.

the last number in the code refers to it being LSd or not, 2 is 4 pinion open, 3 is 2 pinion LSD and 4 is 4 pinion open and 5 is 4 pinion lsd.

E282 is a 4.3:1 4 pinion open diff

F series if you have the money,
G series for cheap and easy to find LSD's and lots of ratio's, big but super strong

I've got a 4.5:1 G series open. You'd just need to get an LSD center. Well actually you'd probably end up buying a 3.9 or 4.1 complete LSD and if you're wanting a higher ratio you can have my 4.5 open for $50....

have yet to see evidence of E series lsd.
F series way better if you can find a short one. front diffs from hilux are F series too so plenty of ratio's.. so you could swap the crown and pinion over to your lsd (altezza etc) center. hilux have 5.1 in em. lowest ratio F series ive seen in a 'rear' live axle head is 4.77 in a 4wd cr30 van. irs version in a ga70 supra which is down at takanini pickapart now (if it's still there that is)
