I just wiped mine down with prepsol and painted them, straight over top of original finish with vht satin black came out awesome. and has lasted over 8-9 months so far. I imagine they wouldn't fear so well if you were travelling gravel road/ road works every day.

I had the centres on my 18"s media blasted and then powder coated...

I'm not really happy with the finish as its been easily marked by a wheel balancing machine, and there is visible surface cracking/crazing of the finish...

Yup $80 for the set of 4 in a green they had to order in.

Blasting cost $60 for all 4, so it cost $140 all told.

If you want to leave the lip polished don't powdercoat, they'll coat the lip also since it's kind of unavoidable.

Below is how I did my A3A's. Masked off the lip, and sandblasted using a moderate size compressor, beach sand, and one of those cheap venturi type blasting guns you simply stick in a bucket of sand.

Pre blasting.

Post blasting

Then etch primed, and painted with a 2K red.

Hope that helps.

You may be mistaking the zinc phosphate primer they often use, for galv.

So i decided not to powdercoat due to having no other wheels to put back on the car and wanting too keep the polished lip.

I actually bought 3 cans of satin black which should look great :D

Didn't choose green/orange mainly because i think when i come to sell the car, orange is not everyones taste :?
